I was just thinking recently about how to be an ally to my queer friends on tumblr. Do you have any suggestions? What kinds of things would be supportive and gender affirming to you? How can mutuals support you?
Hi there!
Usually i would answer on @yourbigendergremlet but its fine
First off, thank's for asking! The fact you are asking and finding out at all shows ur being a great ally
Do research, figure out what their labels mean. The best research you can do is ask them directly how exactly they define their gender/sexuality since it can differ from person to person even if they share the same labels.
Make sure of their pronouns and terms to use about them. You can make jokes as long as it is not at their expense and are something you think they would find funny. And apologise if you did somehow offend them.
On tumblr, you can reblog things to do with their label and tag them, or even in the comments
To be gender affirming, just use terms that they like, i honestly cant think of a much better way.
Just treat them as you normally did before they came out, or as any other person. Because we are lgbt+, doesnt mean we arent human, or our labels are the only thing we care about, we still have intrests in silly video game series and such. Just treat them normally and not in a different way because of their gender or sexuality
I hope this helps, and im glad you asked anon! :)

also PLEASE can you make galestar and stripestar yaoi or yuri or yaori. gay love so powerful it merged clans
I was thinking that the whole time lmaoo
As you know, the Clan cats in BB don't forget history "out of shame" like canon does. They reframe stories in ways that fit their narrative, changing details and altering StarClan itself over the generations. So, I was struck with the idea that I'll adapt canon by making them misgender Galestar and Stripestar over the years.
As a recap; Clan Culture has three genders. It is a trinary gender system.
Ssuf/Tom (what we might consider masculine, linked to social passivity and out-of-camp activities)
Yaow/Molly (what we might consider feminine, linked to social aggression and camp-defensiveness)
Meewa/Gib (we don't really have a word for this in English. It's "above behavioral sex-based characteristics" in a way you could roughly describe as 'de-sexed,' but even that doesn't totally capture it. Linked to wisdom, long-term planning, and blessedness.)
The Clan Culture perception of a queer cat is one that doesn't fall into the trinary. Multigender (Finleap), agender (Twigbranch), and genderqueer (Dustpelt) cats are distinctly queer in a way that's hard to translate.
So, I'm thinking that BB!Galestar and BB!Stripestar were both Meewa-gendered cats (Xey/Xem in English), from birth. They seemed destined to eventually occupy positions of authority within WindClan and ThunderClan, and THAT is what was forgotten over the years. It was a great shame that two incredibly wise, blessed cats did something so drastic, so they were remembered as a molly and a tom instead.
Meewa-gender is usually assigned based on "atypical" traits in newborns, such as unusual colors, multiple toes, or even certain intersex traits. For Stripe and Gale, I'm thinking they actually had six toes each-- on the opposite side of each other. So when they put their paws together, it was like they made a complete set of twelve claws.
Symbols are also not that strange in BB!Clan Culture, as they have a rudimentary writing system. I might make it that StormClan's symbol isn't really the thing that the Clan cats used to signal to the Wildcats that they're allies-- but a pawprint with an extra toe.
(...It would also be neat if Galestar's wildcat mate had a 6th finger too. Something about the way xey associate it with xeir gender and inherent blessedness... only to find that such things exist everywhere. That xey weren't just made to fit one mate. Losing Stripestar isn't the end of xeir world but the start of a new one.)

"I support trans people!" quick, are you normal about the concept of transandrophobia? Do you think it's just 'white men trying to be oppressed'? Do you brush it off as merely misdirected transmisogyny? Do you scoff at the struggles of trans men and go 'but trans women have it worse! talk to a trans woman and see how bad THEY have it!'?
Do you use a trans man's chest size as an excuse for constant misgendering? Do you hold transmasculine people to a standard of needing to be feminine so to not scare the women, but proceed to not take their gender seriously if they do perform femininity? Do you use your horribly veiled misandry as an excuse to make trans men feel unsafe in queer spaces?
Are you normal about AFAB transfems and AMAB transmascs? Intersex trans people? GNC trans people? Trans people who use xenogenders? Trans people who use it/its or other neopronouns? She/her transmascs and he/him transfems? Can you acknowledge that, sometimes, people are simultaneously transmasc and transfem? Do you accept transmasc women, transfem men, etc?
Do you invalidate the identities of trans women who have beards, or present 'masculinely'? Do you see them as predatory posers? Do you go out of your way to misgender trans women who happen to actually be predators, because 'clearly they were just men'? Do you shame trans women for exploring their sexuality?
Are autistic trans people not able to make decisions on their own transition, as far as you're concerned? Are our ways of expressing and seeing gender 'stupid' to you? Is the concept of autigender too 'insane' to you? Do you see our gender identities as simply jokes?
Can you survive being around a trans man lesbian or a veldian (link) trans woman? Can you support a multigender person who is both gay AND lesbian? Can you include transmasculine nonbinary people in your 'support' of nonbinary lesbians?
I've used the term 'conditional support' a few times, but it is very much conditional support if you explode over one trans person's identity, and then turn around and act all supportive of another's. If all it takes for you not to support a trans person is how they label their gender or sexuality, how they present, what their body looks like, etc, you are not supportive of trans people! Your 'support' is very limited and strict. You have one rigid idea of what trans people are 'supposed' to be, and anyone who deviates isn't valid or worthy, and that is NOT the kind of behavior an ally should exhibit. It is not the way you treat other trans people, and it is far from supportive.

100 Line Gender Headcanons
Takumi is a trans girl, just extremely an egg and dense about it, takes either years post canon or in a random forcefem route to get it.
Eito is transfem non-binary and looking into Futuran genders and history of gender because human gender is so disgusting and uncomfortable for them, recognizes Takumi is trans way before she realizes it.
Yugamu is agender / multigender / genderfluid, he is no gender but loves different performances of gender and does dubiously ethical self-surgery, including bottom surgery nullification and tentacles and more, she is the one who does the hrt for the rest of the cast.
Takemaru is a man, but he's cool about it and done a lot of self reflection to interrogate and affirm it, he's an ally, even if his gender politics are weird.
Ima is transfem, but if she ever actually transitioned, she'd be Kako's identical twin and no one knows how they're supposed to feel about that.

intersex contradictory labels culture is watching anti-good faith people try to claim they aren't intersexist while actively being intersexist. "i'm a good intersex ally :3 btw afab transfems (and amab transmascs, but usually it's centered on afab transfems) are inherently transphobic, i don't care that these are labels mostly used by intersex and multigender people they're still transphobic and actually everyone who uses them are TERFs <3 this isn't intersexist! the intersex people telling me i'm being intersexist are wrong!! i'm a good ally i prommy ignore literally my entire blog <3" like a broken fuckin record
Seriously like listen to intersex people?? The afab transfem and AMAB transmasc definition isn't even that hard to understand, right? Also the "this isn't intersexist, also btw intersex people said I was but they're wrong <3" is hilariously so bad like how are you gonna say you aren't being hateful to a group while they're telling you, you ARE!? Like that's crazyyy. It reminds me of the ask I got where a gay dude talked about how invalid lesboys were but 3 lesbians were telling him he was wrong. Like listen to the ACTUAL group.

I know the kids in general aren't your thing but what are your thoughts on june egbert as a whole?
I've seen opinions on her existence be pretty varied (tho I guess more recent years its a widely accepted fanon and uh some ppl treat her as canon when.. she's... not lmao..) so I'm curious on your opinion if you have one!
(I personally don't subscribe to the headcanon but otherwise I don't have any strong feelings about it ppl can do whatever they want forever lmao)
I've been vocal about this previously, but in my opinion, all J. Egbert is good J. Egbert. June, John, Transfem, Transmasc, Transneu, Nonbinary, Genderfluid, Multigender, whatever the fuck, I don't care, have fun. Whatever gender people subscribe to the character isn't my business, and I have zero way of telling what it means to people unless they're being super blatant about it, which... Doesn't actually happen often?
I have no way of telling if people subscribe to transfem!June wholesale because that gives them comfort, or transmasc!John because that gives them comfort, or genderfluid!Egbert because that gives them comfort, or even just... Cis Trans Ally John, because that gives them comfort. These are all things I've seen before. I just choose to assume good faith, as is healthier, and respect whatever OP is tagging. If they're tagging art as June, it doesn't matter if she looks the same as she does in canon, or if she's pre-transition, that's June to them, so I'll tag it as June myself. If they're tagging art as John, I tag it as John. I have no way of knowing what their idea of the sex of this character is, and I'd find it weird to "correct" them, when they could very easily just be drawing a headcanon they've had for years and found major comfort and gender euphoria in. I don't know their life.
I think the way people have been using June's confirmation- not canonization to HS^2/HS:BC, she hasn't appeared yet- as a way to be transphobic in any direction is vile. I think if you use June as a way to be transmisogynistic, you're an asshole and a transphobe. If you use June as a way to be bigoted against trans men, you're an asshole and a transphobe. If you're finding a way to use it to be bigoted against nonbinary or multigender people, you're an asshole and a transphobe. I would sure fucking hope this isn't a controversial statement. There's no good reason to be a bigot. A disagreement over gender headcanons is an especially pathetic reason to reduce yourself to transphobia. Come the fuck on now.
More Discussion Under the Cut:
Miscellaneous thoughts include... 1.) She is not canon to Homestuck proper. This is because every piece of Homestuck media outside of literal Homestuck (2009) itself has been very open about the fact that they are not canon to Homestuck (2009). Homestuck (2009) is canon to Homestuck (2009), and nothing else is. HS:BC is canon to itself. HS^2 is canon to itself. The Homestuck Epilogues is canon to itself. Pesterquest is canon to itself. Hiveswap is canon to itself. They are not canon to Homestuck, though. These aren't condemnations of these pieces of media, nor is it a reduction of the meaning of this form of the character to people, it just needs to be stated that they're not canon to Homestuck. This is by design, and is also a well advertised fact about them. 2.) She was not "always intended", or "always canon". I see a lot of people say that June was being intentionally alluded to since 2009, and... That's just... Really blatantly not the case? Extremely magical thinking happening there. I think if June was supposed to happen in Homestuck, and was allegedly intentionally alluded to in Homestuck constantly... She would have happened in Homestuck? There's nothing wrong with an author getting asked to make a certain gender headcanon canon and then, you know, canonizing it because they think it's cool, nor is there anything wrong with an author realizing that an interesting arc for a specific character would be a gender transition in sequel material. It doesn't have to always be a "This was all planned from the start" situation. As someone who is a writer... That's genuinely just not really how writing works, and it really isn't where Hussie's politics were at during the time. Hell, I know a lot of genders, pronouns, sexualities, races, ethnicities, religions, and disability statuses were changed throughout me working on my own writing projects. They weren't all "Planned from the Start", and there's nothing wrong with that. 3.) June fans, I am so sorry. You all deserve so much more than these years of J.K. Rowling-tier """canonization""". This was said to be something that was totally going to happen... On Twitter... Through a magical Toblerone wish... Several years ago. And nothing has really come of it since. Not even a hint!! That sucks so much. 4.) Not to be blunt, but some people are really misogynistic about her. Transitioning doesn't completely change your personality. It doesn't fix all of your problems and flaws. Growing into femininity doesn't magically make you a ditzy bimbo girly girl whose only personality traits are Cute, Stupid, and Female. That's just fucking weird, dog. The way some people treat her status as a woman reads very... Caliborn-esque...

Super Smash Bros Queer Pride Headcanons v6.0!
I am aware that I accidentally skipped last year's post. Part of that is that I've mostly reached a point where additions or changes are minimal. After a certain point it just begins to look like I'm copy-pasting the same posts again and again. So, going forward from this post (which I'm doing entirely from scratch since it's been two years), future pride posts will simply be "patch notes" on my previous post unless I feel like my headcanons differ enough to warrant a new post.
As per usual, a character not being on the list ≠ I believe them to be definitively straight, it just indicates a lack of preference on my part. (The only exception is Donkey Kong who is a very vocal cishet ally)
List is below the cut.

Note
do you know if there’s a term for lesbian who support
lesboy’s
Aroace lesbians
he/him lesbians
it/it’s lesbians
they/them lesbians
non-binary lesbians
multi gender lesbians
no gender/agender lesbians
Xenogender lesbians
neurogender lesbians
lesbians with controversial labels
Lesbians that have a Cluster b disorder
Neurodivergent lesbians
and any other kind of lesbian that people don’t see as a “real” lesbian
If not can you make a term for it cus I see to many lesbians not support all lesbians so I wanted a term that I can use so that people can see that I support all these labels/lesbian
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gay Man Ally is a term for gay men who support any "non-typical" gay men such as: turigirls, mspec gay men, gaybians, straightcians, aroace gay men, she/her gay men, they/them gay men, it/its gay men, nonbinary gay men, multigender gay men, agender / genderless gay men, xenogender gay men, neurogender gay men, gay men who use controversial or contradictory labels, neurodivergent gay men and any other type of gay men that aren't see as "real" gay men for whatever reason. In short, a gay man ally is a term for gay men who uplift and support other gay men, no matter how they identify or what makes them different.
Lesbian Ally is a term for lesbians who support any "non-typical" lesbians such as: lesboys, mspec lesbians, gaybians, straightbians, aroace lesbians, he/him lesbians, they/them lesbians, it/its ledbians, nonbinary lesbians, multigender lesbians, agender / genderless lesbians, xenogender lesbians, neurogender lesbians, lesbians who use controversial or contradictory labels, neurodivergent lesbians and any other type of lesbians that aren't see as "real" lesbians for whatever reason. In short, a lesbian ally is a term for lesbians who uplift and support other lesbian, no matter how they identify or what makes them different.
Me too anon, I'm seeing WAY too many lesbians be against lesboys, gaybians, mspec lesbians and straightbians for no reason, I don't see it happen as often with gay men being exclusionary but it still happens and it's honestly really infuriating
Also just a reminder that gay man/men can be replaced with gay, vincian, veldian or turian in this post, gay man is just what I prefer to use

So, today I was in Times Square and saw a Microsoft ad that really prominently featured the aro flag. I like to pretend I'm not someone to freak out over seeing my own flag anymore, but like, the idea that aromanticism is important enough for Microsoft to show it in Times Square? Yeah. That blew me away. So I looked up the full ad (it was a much smaller variant in Times Square) and. Woah. Someone at Microsoft knows their queer microlabels. I never expected to see the neurogender flag in the marketing for an evil company?
Like. Pangender and polygender. Androromantic and gynoromantic. Transneutral. Graygender. Maverique. Neutrois. Unlabeled. Ambiamorous. Diamoric. Pomosexual. Intergender. Xenogender. Aporagender. Egogender. Hijira. None of these are identities I'd expect to see used by goddamn Microsoft.
There is exactly one Microsoft employee who I worship and who isn't getting paid enough.
Full labelling and breakdown of flags below, courtesy of @the-crystalized-cosmos. Only after they did all the work of figuring out all the flags and labeling them did I learn that microsoft also did that themselves here. And that version is slightly bigger, revealing flags that aren't in this version: transfeminine, aroflux, gender neutral, and multigender.
I swear I'm not a Microsoft shill. Fuck Microsoft. But like, this is I think the best corporate pride art I've ever seen, and anything with this many flags in it is guaranteed to make me excited. I just really, really, really like flags.

Being multigender is always hard for many reasons but I always struggle to decide on what labels to tell people when I explain my transness/ Do I call myself a trans man and have everyone ignore that I am also nonbinary and use they/them and it/its?
Do I call myself transmasculine and have everyone ignore that I am also a binary man and use he/him?
Do I call myself genderfluid and have everyone act like my gender is just a costume? Like I'm just a cis woman whose gender presentation is fluid, instead of my entire gender identity?
Do I call myself bigender and have everyone think I'm the man + woman kind, and not the man + nonbinary kind?
It feels like a lose-lose, like no matter what I say to anyone, from regular ass people to vocal allies to other trans people- I will never have every part of my identity respected equally.
